WHO IS JABEZ ?

    I would like to share with you a little information about a spiritual man named,"Jabez." Some of you may have heard this term said by some people that goes,"Jabez increase my territory."

    I once read that the Chinese celebration on New Years are fun for the children. When relatives and friends get together it was custom for the adults to give the children small red envelopes with token sums of money in them. The children often rip open their packets just to get the money as kids will do today, and their parents would remind them that the giver is more important than the gift.

    When we study the prayer of,"Jabez", in 1st CRONICLES 4:9-10, it is important to remember that the giver, the LORD, is more important than the gift. As I mentioned above you may have heard the term,"Jabez increase my territory."

If we focus solely on the request of "Jabez", it could be easy to make the mistake of turning it into a formular for obtaining what we want from God. And maybe, just maybe we should watch what we ask for, because we may get it, and if you can't handle a little you won't be able to handle a lot if you are blessed to get it!

    In reality we don't know much about Jabez, except that his mother gave him a name that sounds like Hebrew word for, "distress or pain." We were also told that,"Jabez", grew up he was more honorable than his brothers.

     What made,"Jabez", honorable? There was no magic in the words of his prayer. Only that he knew that God is the giver of all things, and he honored the Lord. The reason I know,"Jebez", was more honorable than his brothers was because 1st CRONICLES 4:9-10, said he was. (WORD)

    When we realize that the purpose of this prayer is not to get what we want, but to become what God wants us to be.

HONORABLE !!!

Now that's what I'm talking about !!!
